SharePoint 2010 Bug: Edit Web Part does not Check-Out the page when the Ribbon is Hidden

Just a minor point that we noticed recently during test that may be worth a mention. We found that the user can hide the new SharePoint 2010 ribbon via the Site Actions menu then selecting Hide Ribbon. However if the user does this, they can still get to the web part menu in the web part title bars and choose Edit Web Part. This appears to proceed as expected, displaying the web part properties to edit, however it does not automatically check-out the page, so applying the updated properties fails with an error indicating that the page is not checked-out.

If the ribbon is visible, then selecting Edit Web Part in the web part menu will automatically check-out the page at the same time as displaying the web part properties. We could not work out why it should behave any differently with the ribbon visible or hidden so assume it must be another bug! We checked this out also with an out of the box install and it still showed the same problem so was not something that we had managed to break via our customisations.
