    Hi, any updates regarding this?

      Hi Ole
I have updated the post with the latest.

Unfortunately after long discussions with Microsoft, they are still adamant that the behaviour in the workaround is by design and will not proceed with this as a defect and would charge for any further effort on this. As a result the case is closed for now.

      Best regards

      Nick

That is a poor solution as because the taxonomy generated filter uses the internal name so if fields are renamed you end up with the situation described here.
